West Hobart defeat Friends 2-nil

The game was awesome! The weather was wonderful!! The parents were perfect!!! We won, two–nil, Bella and Alice Cox being our scorers, Alice’s dance after scoring was delightful.

I think it was one of the best games we have played so far. It is nice to note that the Friend’s goalie was Sarah Castle–Lynch who was a founding member of the team up until her move to Friends school two years ago; it was lovely to see her again.

An outstanding first half was played by ‘AJ’ Anna Jamison. She repeatedly drove the ball down the right wing and deep into Friends goal area in a series of savage attacks, which if there was any justice in the world, should have resulted in at least one goal.

Millie, Anna and Nadia were also excellent in attack, how does Millie always manage to smile as she plays? Our defensive line up, based on its core of Alice and Rosie; often referred to in awed whispers as the ‘Rocks of Gibraltar’ for their rock solid defensive work were ... rock solid.

Josie and Jacinta also played well in their respective positions.

It is great to see the team really talking to and encouraging each other, which is a real sign of the team’s maturity.

Special mentions to young Paul S-M for refereeing the entire game and doing so in such a competent manner and our ‘Coach Cory’ for his ability to remain cool, calm and collected when the rest of the parents are throwing themselves about with excitement or anguish.

See you all again next time - Karen and Stephen (Bella's mum and dad)

And hello to the parents who came along ...

And more of the team ...
