West Hobart vanquish Dominic 3-1

A 10 am kickoff saw the visitors West Hobart Bumblebees under 12 girls take on Dominic College under 12s at their Tolosa Street ground. The threat of rain did not stop some rousing performances. Both teams showed plenty of enthusiasm and enterprise in a tight tussle.

Millie and AJWest Hobart broke the deadlock mid way through the first half when following sustained pressure AJ slotted home with a neat finish. The lead didn’t last long however, with Dominic responding well, pressure from the forwards leading to a well deserved equaliser within minutes of going behind.

West Hobart continued pushing forward, and with the ball bouncing around the Dominic goal mouth, it fell to Millie to slide it home and restore their one goal lead.

No further score was added before the break, and the girls settled into the well earned half time oranges.

The second half started as the first finished with strong pressure and strong efforts from both sides.

West Hobart continued to press and was rewarded with a third goal midway through the second half when Lauren calmly steered the ball past the keeper into the corner of the goal.

The game tightened with half chances for both teams and great individual and team performances and solid defending from both sides. No more goals were scored and with the final whistle, West Hobart emerged the victors with a hard-fought 3-1 win. They are now looking forward to their next opponents in two weeks time (next week is a bye).

Thanks to Lauren's dad, Calum, for today's notes. He also skilfully umpired the second half of the match.
